Past oil painting "Matsakina", 50x60” was part of 19th May @ Nicosia Municipality to commemorate 100 years since the Greek Genocide of the Pontus. It's one of the other three paintings I've done, but this one was a challenging piece and just as gratifying to finish. My challenge in this work was not only paint the warm and cool tones (which is difficult in terms of achieving likeness) but to capture the feeling of the vivid life of this woman's history. Soft edges and lost edges are crucial while still maintaining structure. This piece actually took months between work and university to complete. I’m happy about the emotion of this piece and the feeling it gives me each time I see it in person. Other paintings “Lyra’s Doom” and “Genocide Balance” 60x90” were also included in the exhibition. The paintings are now held in private collection.
